| Need New Floor Pump Help | JetSpeed Jul 6, 2003 12:38 PM | | After 10 years of mostly good service my Zephal Husky Floor pump is failing. Every time I use it I almost get to my desired bar when "PISSSSSS!!!" the head pops-off the valve not allowing me to get all the air in the tire I need. It's just not holding onto the valve steam under that kind of pressure (120-125 psi). So who makes a cheap yet good floor pump w/a lifetime warranty? Thanks! |
| Save your pump!!!! | coonass Jul 6, 2003 1:02 PM | | Just replace the hose/head with Topeak's Smarthead kit for <$15....it accommodates either head and locks on.

| I Second the Topeak Smarthead! | MisJG Jul 7, 2003 8:32 AM | | The one I installed on my floor pump is actually an older model. The head is T-shaped to accept Presta on one side and Schrader on the other, but it's the same otherwise. I was always frustrated with the old 'press-on' presta chucks anyway. It seems they were only good for a season then the gasket had to be replaced. With the smarthead, it locks on to the stem to hold it in place. I replaced the old hose/head on my floor pump years ago and if this one ever wears out (no sign of that happening), will replace it with the new model. I love it! |

| Well, the rubber gasket can wear. | jw25 Jul 7, 2003 7:41 AM | | You might be able to find a replacement for it, but the Topeak kit is nice, readily available, and cheaper than a new pump. |
