shoe creakshipfx1230

I have sidi mega genius 3 shoes. The left has developed a creaking sound while peddling. I have speedplay pedals and the cleats are fine. I even checked the cranks and bottom bracket. The creak is from the uppers of the shoe. Any one else with this problem? Any fixes or do I need new shoes, they are 3 years old with about 5k on them.
Some kind of leather gunk? Or silicone spray?cory

Depending on what they're made of (Sidis are out of my price range, so I'd be guessing), some kind of leather gunk (Lexol, mink oil; there are dozens) might quiet them down. Or a shot of silicone spray on the seams and where the uppers join the soles could do it. Beware of glued seams, though--some leather treatments are solvent-based and might dissolve the glue.
Are you sure it's not the cleat/shoe interface or cleat bolts?Kerry Irons

These seem likely culprits. It may be the plastic/plastic interface between the cleat base or a cleat shim and the shoe sole. Likewise, it could be one of the "inner" screws that is flexing, dried out lube, or loose.

I thought the cleats were fine, but took everything down and yes ONE!!! screw was loose. Fixing that corrected the proble. THANKS
