odd day need cheap advice with free random infoandy02

I knew this was going to be an odd day when I raced a segway into lab! they aren't as fast as I thought but the intense look on guys face made me think he was having to work at making it go. I didn't mean to but I laghted so hard I almost missed my turn and tick the segway guy off. Just what this place needs another way to keep people fat and lazy.

When I got to lab I noticed that the tread is comming off of my front tire. Now for the cheap advice.....I need new tires for my cummuter. I currently have 700x25 I would like to stay that wide or wider. And most of all I want cheap!!!! I can't see paying more for the tires then the bike.
Be careful...merckx56

don't make the dude on the Segway crash! My company is the only one that actually insures those things. I would hate to handle that claim.
Hutchinson makes a bunch of cheap tires in 700X25. Our server at work won't let me on Quality's site, but I knoew they makes 'em! Or Continental?

Do you know the weight limit on those things? He may have pushing it?

the city has a law against them so he may not be riding it very long anyway

Do you have a Performance store near you. I never pay more than $12/tire and have paid as little as $5/tire.
I will see a performance store in augandy02

I've always had bad luck with any of their tires, and novbody else I know has had any better.

If you want cheap, I have 2 suggestions: CST (Chen Shin)makes a few decent tires, and prices on these things are always dirt cheap. Check it over really good first, since these sino-junk brands are often poorly pressed, sometimes with belt showing through the rubber, etc...

IRC: These guys make some of the best cheap tires around. More expensive than the sino-junk brands, but always better made, and usually quite durable, too.

I have tried expensive tires with no luck and got the best mileage and performance out of Conti sport 1000s. 120 psi rating and I managed over 5,000 miles on the first set I had and I tip the scale at over 200 lbs. The last time I looked perf. or nash had them for $15. I got a black wall set at LBS for $15 each. They size in 25/700

Oh, puleeease! Not Conti Sport 1k's!!Alexx

Man, I had a set of them, and they flatted twice a week! I also pinch flatted one (never done that before or since, BTW), and they wore nearly down to the belts in about 500 miles. Sure, they rode and handled well, but at $15 each you can do better almost anywhere!

Conti Ultra 2000. Not "cheap", not expensive. 700 X 25, 120 psi, working well for me so far.
