|I posted this in "components" but I thought with the additional traffic here somone might know where I can find one of these.
I need a single 28 cog to save my knees on the Death Ride. I ordered one from Harris. They let me know today that they don't have one in stock. Cycle Dynamics (Canada) doesn't have one either. Anyone have any other ideas?

|The aftermarket Shimano LX cassettes I've seen are made of cogs and spaces held with a few very small long allen bolts. Unscrew it and you have a nice stack of loose cogs, one of which (the second largest, iirc) is 28t.
I built a 13-14-15-16-18-22-24-28 cassete for my 8 speed road bike out of the old 8 speed cassette (had to drill the rivetts) it came with an some cogs from a 9 speed LX. Shifts like a dream, and is very nice on hills.
So all you have to do is buy an LX cassette (anoying but not to spendy, available anywhere) or find a MTB rider who is replacing his worn out one (free, but maybe not fast).
Actually, I may have an old cassette myself that has its 28t left. I'll check if you want.

|I got one for free there. Actually I never even used it, and somebody borrowed it from me last week.
See you at the death ride !
