|up some paint and the layer underneath it on the chain stay near the BB, no weave showing. What's the best way to repair/smooth out for re-painting? |

|I had the exact same thing happen on my brand new Aegis Victory frame on its' maiden voyage. Same spot, same reason. It broke my heart.
I emailed Aegis for a recommendation. Here's what the guy said (I'm sure it pertains to all CF bikes): check to see if the area is a scratch or a gauge. Stick a pencil tip into the area - if its' soft then don't ride it! Get it repaired. If its' hard (just a scratch) then repair it. I used some auto touch up paint to cover the area. Then, I applied a lizard skin over it to ward off future chain drops. I've put another 800 miles on it (500 last week alone) without any problem or chain drop.

|I'll probe with a pencil. Mine is more then a scratch, a chunk of paint missing, will use an epoxy or something to smooth it out, sand and paint. |
Lizard skin sounds good, was wondering what to use.

|Mine was a gauge too. I thought about epoxy, but since it was in a non-noticeable place, I skipped the putty. Luckly, my frame is black-weave in color which matched the lizard skins to a "t".
