Sidi genius shoes with new Shimano Dura-Ace Pedalssanta cruz

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but someone lifted a few part off my bike when in was locked in the back of my truck bed for several hours. One of the items they took were the pedals (Looks). I replaced them with Shimano Dura-Ace (03 version). When I tried to install the cleats the cleats the screws are too short. Do I replace the screws with longer ones or take off the plate on the bottom of the shoe.

Like I said, I will appologize in advance if this is a stupid question.
Longer allen head bolts worked for me. Sweet pedals n/mburdiman

No not a dumb question. What I use are the machine screws that campy provide with their profit pedals. I think they are 12mm long and do the job nicely. You can buy the screws separately as an after market item. I know that excel sports boulder carries the little bolt kit.

You might be able to nab a few at a lbs if you're lucky.

The plate serves no purpose either, since you don't need an adaptor... might as well not use it.

I would think the cleat would not sit flat across the sole without the adaptor?

I have the 650(Ultegra?) version and I don't think I have the adaptor on my sidi genius. I'll have to check tonight to make sure though. I just used the screws that came with the cleats.

I took a look at my shoes.
Are you talking about the plate that's recessed into the shoe? If so, I do have that on and I think I actually used the screws that came with the shoes.
No plate needed here, bolts on fine !JimboTero

I've used the Ultegras with the cleats bolted directly on to the sidi genius shoes, no prob. The shoe has a slight recess but the cleat seems rigid enough to bridge this without flexing. Why add the extra weight of the allen bolts needed for the plate ? They rusted almost immediately when I had the spd/r adaptors (same bolts) and one of the allen heads crumbled when I tried to remove that heavy piece of crap to finally switch to spd/sl's !(boy, was that fun) The bolts that came with my pedals work just fine.
