can soneone tell me what is needed to put a stem on a carbon steerer. Have a carbon fork, and ITM stem, but I know you don't use a star fangled nut. What do I need/where can I order it?

|1. A threadless headset
2. Carbon fork
4. Top cap and screw
5. Wedge or star nut
The fork should have come with a wedge or star nut. Most manufacturers don't suggest a star nut for a carbon steerer. An expanding wedge is better.
Supergo sells the wedger and top cap for $9.95

|it does not seem to get tight? I feel like the expander just spins inside the steerer as I tighten the cap?
Is there a trick to these things?

|If you are wondering about the stem on the carbon steerer, it installs just like normal. Read the instructions that came with the stem as far as how to prep the bolts and how much torque.
If you are talking about the star nut, you are correct in that you don't use it. You need an expander plug. It should have come with the fork, but if not, you can order it. FSA makes one and so does Reynolds. Its about $20.
