Just got an e-m from a friend whose brother races Elite-level (equiv cat. 1) in the Netherlands -- he just scouted out the cols of this year's etape and here's what he had to say:

Subject: FW: tour etappe

In case you hadn't seen it yet, for info and mental preparation. Kms. 9 to 14 of the Bagargui are particularly impressing. My brother has cycled them last week, and he thinks a lot of people could be in trouble there if caught unaware, esp. if it is hot.

-------------------------------------------------------

His average speed on kms 9-14 on the Bagargui = 10kms/hr -- yikes!

A+

Philippe
Thanks -- there was nothing like that in last year's etapems

My plans to ride in the hills of Western Maryland last weekend were defeated by my having to work all weekend on a brief that was due on Monday. This weekend I plan to ride some hills near the Virginia/West Virginia border come hell or high water (more likely high water given the amount of rain we have had on the East Coast of the US). We only have 20 days to left to prepare. From the looks of the graphs, I could use 20 weeks (or maybe 20 years off of my age).

Some nice "bumps" in the road. Thanks for the profiles.
