|Are bibs better than shorts?||dez182|

|I've been riding nearly every day for the last 6 months using only one pair of shorts, and now I finally have enough money to buy another pair. I've been hearing a lot of talk about bibs. Voler's are on sale right now for $45, so I was thinking about getting those. Right now, I've using the cheapest Pearl Izumi shorts, and I find that they start to chafe after 50 or so miles. Will I be happier with the voler's? Or should I just stick to shorts?|

|I'm very happy with mine. Been using them the most out of 5 brands of bibs I own for the last 3 years. As a matter of fact I just got a new pair, and finalized a sale of a pair of Giordana's I got recently. Don't like the Gio's, love the Volers. Some say they are too hot with the upper bib part, but it doesn't bother me. Your experience may differ, though. I like them better than Performance Elite, Giordana, Nalini, and Pace ITS-250. I have no problem with chafing on long rodes, either. I just recently decided after experimenting with those different brands for a while to stick with Volers. Why pay more for something that isn't as comfortable (at least to me they're not). I'm also selling the other brands I have. As far as the bib/short debate goes, I prefer not having a waistband digging into my waist. Hope that helps.

|don't skimp on the bibs, go with a pair that has a good chamois and you'll never go back to shorts again.|

|never had a problem draining the lizard with bibs. just kick it down to 10-15 mph, make sure there's no one right behind you, pull down, pull out and aim to the left (I'm a lefty). easy peasy.|

|but you might like them better? some do, some don't. The only way to find out is to try them. Voler make very good stuff so if it's on sale, why not. Sounds like you need them.|

|I also prefer bibs. As far as going #1, I just pull up one of the legs. It's lycra it stretches enough.
My preference are the nashbar bibs. Good quality with a good price.

|Well, I just got a pair and the jury is still out. They seem a little warmer (of course it just cranked up here in the NorthEast). For fit and comfort they work. Guess I need to wear shorts to see if they bother me now.
I got a pair of Nalni for ~$40 at http://bikejerseys.com/nalchicblacb.html lots there if you're smaller than me.

|I have shorts and bibs and I like them both for different rides. Longer rides I like my bibs. I have PI knickers and Nalini team kit stuff. If you dig team kit stuff I recommend http://www.bikekit.co.uk. Takes a little longer to get here but the prices can't be beat. All authentic.|| |
