Grocery shopping.. what to buy?Fender

So I'm going grocery shopping tonight and want to know what to buy, particularly for snacks. I used to buy kids cereal and sweet pastrys, but I want to stay away from that. Any healthy alterntives? Other than rice cakes and apples?

if you eat too much you'll find yourself spending the afternoon in the can.

Wheat Thins, IMO. (actually, just go eat at Chevy's!)

Mixed nuts, popcorn for your air popper, whole wheat bread, olive oil (instead of butter on toast and popcorn), carrots, broccoli, pears, oranges, apples, bananas, red, green, & yellow peppers, yogurt (for dipping the vegies) - the list goes on and on.

I love ants on a log (celery sticks with cruncy peanut butter and raisins on top). I also like any good, stinky cheese with fruit like apples and pears.
no rice cakes!ColnagoFE

stay away from rice cakes. they are probably the worst thing you could eat. super high on the glycemic index. you might as well eat sugar. i cringe when i see overweight people snacking on these pieces of cardboard.

heres what i like to munch on;

apples, peaches, pears, granola (low fat to mix with yogurt), nonfat yogurt, almonds or nut mix (salted soy nuts are tasty), turkey jerkey or other low fat beef jerkey, green tea, carrots, broccoli. i usually also buy some protein bars to eat as a mid-afternoon snack after lifting. a tub of whey protein to make a breakfast smoothie with.
