|I am going to give shaving my legs a go, but am still leery. How high up my thigh do I go? And how often will I need to shave? Any other thoughts or tips are appreciated as well. Thanks|

|If you are going to shave, go all the way. You'll know when to stop. If you go too far, don't worry -- it will grow back quickly. Just do it. I usually shave once or twice per week, but I don't mind some stubble. Insofar as tips are concerned, there are lots of tips in the archive. Here are some of mine:
1. Use a new and good razor and good shaving cream. I use the Xtreme 3 and Neutrogena shave gel. The Track 2 razor and cheap shaving cream that I used to use on my face did my legs no favors. You will regret it if you try to economize by using dull razors and cheap shaving cream.
2. Put something on your legs to moisturize them after shaving.
3. After you have mastered shaving your legs, do not feel that you are such an expert that you can then tell your girlfriend/significant other/wife how to shave her legs. My wife was not amused when I told her, after I had been shaving for a few weeks, that she did not know how to shave her legs, something which she has been doing for years.

|I shave pretty much all the way. Like the above poster said you will know when to stop. Shaving to your short line is kinda gross because when you wear regular shorts you can see where you stoped shaving. Just looks kinda weird. As far as how often, I shave every other day.
1.) Razor= Mach 3
2.) Shaving Cream= Edge (sensitve skin, orange can)
3.) Lotion= Nutragenia unsented

|If you are shaving them for reasons involving road rash then you have to shave as high up as the road rash could go. Did you see picks of Lance last week after his crash? He took skin off his butt cheeks. If you're gonna do it, go all the way up.
Quick tip: Shave against the grain for closeness. The hair below the knee grows down. Above the knee, the hair grows in all directions. To get a close shave you have to shave up, down, back, and forth. Shaving against the grain is not as irritating on your legs as on your face. YMMV

|I'm not a hairy guy so it's not an issue for me. I don't have hair on my butt worth shaving. If I had hair like Chewbacha, I'd shave my backside.
Lovely picture isn't it????

|Trim everything short with an electric trimmer first. Shaving long hairs with a blade is no fun and a quick way to get cut.|

|I used to shave all the way up but began getting a lot of ingrown hairs. Now I stop a little way down. You'll just have to expirement and see what works for you.
Shaving cream: also pink
Post op lotion: Nutra Gen.

|Just kidding ... I never inhaled. Seriously, though. I find the Mach3 razor best along with the Gilette sensitive skin shaving gel. I'll usually apply the gel and soak in the bath for a few minutes. This will really soften the hair and reduce any razor burn. I then reapply and shave. Bert's Bees lotion works good for aprez-shave. My wife gave me these tips, and they've worked well for me.|

|They had a segment on Summer Sportzone last Thursday about this topic. The big three tips were:
1. Soak in a warm bath for a few minutes before. Cold water causes goosebumps which could be very bad news during a shaving session.
2. Use a sharp, high quality razor.
3. Instead of shaving cream, use olive oil.

|All the way, but the pubes do present a problem. Initially they were getting ripped out from all the friction so I shaved the saddle zone. Now I have fantastic chafing that's only bearable with healthy doses of Chamois Butter (my buddies and I jokingly call it Butt Butter, but it works!). I think I'll build up a tolerance again soon. I'd go for all but the red zone. Definitely use clippers first to hack down the long hair, otherwise it will take 5 times longer.|

|This is my first season shaving also. I used a beard trimmer first to cut off all the long hair. Than I used a Remington Smooth & Silky ladies electric shaver to shave the stubble; easily done in a hot shower with soap for lubrication. I shave every other day (or the wife screams), and I shave up to my speedo line. Being a fairly hairy guy, it was just too weird looking to stop at the short line. The electric shaver has yet to give me a silky smooth shave; however, it's fast and I haven't had any razor burn or cuts. After seeing the photos of LA's crash results I've been thinking about all the hair on my arms and butt.

|I shave anywhere I could get road rash including my backside and my arms. (NO TYPE OF SHARP OBJECT OF ANY KIND NEAR THE NADS THOUGH!!) I use a Gillete Mach 3 and Noxzema Aloe and lanolin extra sensitive cream. Post shave I use St IVes lotion.
Tips, as mentioned above use the bread trimmer first. Also, I shave on my day off from riding because I find my skin gets irritated if I wear my shorts on the same day as a shave.
Also, a big second on the Chamios Butter!

|how high? above the shorts line--any shorts
* use a sharp razor
* use an electric first, if it's your first time
* shave the tops of your feet & toes, too. clean-shaven legs with hairy feet sticking out of sandals is muy strange
* lotion 'em after shaving, or risk razorburn/dry skin & irritation
alas, i've not shaven my stumps for some time, as i'm too darned lazy to get around to it. heck, i only shave my face 1x/week.
