New York City riders question...rkalik

What's your best time around Central Park's 6.15 mile loop?

I'm a new road biker, and have been practicing in the park.

It may be a bit faster than what you're looking for, but CRCA (the biggest club in NY) had a 2 lap time trial this past weekend (divide times by 2 for an average). The results are posted on their site- www.crca.net. You should probably ignore the top 30 or 40 since they are high cateory racers.

Hope it helps.

... loop times are much higher. I think you should be aiming for a 18-19 minute solo ride. If you can keep that pace, you will be able to hang with some of the groups that form in the evenings.

I'm 29, been riding for about 3 years and am in reasonably good shape. I think my best time around alone was about 17 minutes.

cool, thanks for the feedback. Last night, I completed the loop in 19:50, my best time yet. I've been riding two/three weeks now, my starting time was 24 minutes so I am heading in the right direction!
