Accurate watts from a "lifecycle"?(2 posts)

Accurate watts from a "lifecycle"?vindicator

So I was travelling and the hotel gym had a "lifecycle" type cycle (it was a different brand - Precor I think) which had watts as a display option. I hadn't seen this before. The cybex bikes I've been riding at the local club while my shoulder heals don't show watts.

Unlike "calories expended" I'd expect watts could be fairly accurate, but that doesn't mean they are. Anyone know if these are?

FWIW, I was cruising in hr zone 2 somewhere around 250 watts, and was able to "peak" briefly at close to 600.

Every piece of "Life" equipment I've ever tried has lied on the high side, on both calories and watts.
