friday haiku, y'all
is it time to go home yet?
"work" is killing me

headphone listening
surrounded by computers
in this tiny cube

RHC peppers
i'm addicted to tha funk
cube neighbors can hear

4 K miles this year
almost as much as last year
6 months to go yet

can't seem to find legs
am i still tired from riding
f@#$ing illinois?

i'm taking days off
no bike and no watching lance
no yardwork either

maybe something else
prep for brevets was "ride lots"
and also "eat lots"

more (m)ass do i have
seventeen pounds since last spring
and dunlap syndrome

tomorrow harpeth
one hundred miles of sprinting
between four buffets

then, back to basics
start running again, alas
counting calories

shunning malt liquids
no ice cream, chocolate syrup
no more donut holes

no pizza, tacos,
pickle cheese mayo sandwich,
no chocolate milk

no cold ham sandwich
(brevet mile 202 check)
no more fig neutrons

the fun, it's over
and payment will now begin
with hill intervals

for it's time, my friends
get back to my fighting weight
and drop thursday's pack

also stuck in cube
shaking off last nights beer buzz
and caked with dried sweat

my bike sits depressed
under these flourescent lights
it needs attention

what a royal shame-
schedules conform to a clock
and not the weather?

but I can't complain
since I will spend half the day
reading velonews

and in seven hours
my bike will impatiently
demand I climb on

the predictable
wind in Santa Barbara
will push me home fast.
Is anyone compiling a book of JS Haikus' work?rollo tommassi

That was beautiful!

I especially like the f%*@king illinois part ;)

You have RHC in your cube..but I'm suffering thru a matinee of "The Little Mermaid" (life in the theater...)

Thanks JS!
