I'll be in NJ this weekend on a family visit. Anyone riding near this area? I'm looking to do 50-100 or so. Like to have somebody show me the area.

1. Get a local roadmap, find the tiny squiggly lines that point towards the shore, and pedal away.

2. Carry the bikes across the bridge. Park at the Art Museum. Ride 5 miles along the Schuykill river, through downtown Manyunk (youknow, corestates/firstunion/wachovia), and up the rails to Valley Forge State Park. Nice way to kill 1/2 day.

3. MTB bike - follow number 2, but at the end of the schuykill, go straight into Valley Green Park (rather than left into Manyunk). 5 miles cinder flatpath flanked by miles of singletrak.

on weekends, West River Drive (the other side of the Schuykill) is closed to vehicular traffic. 4 miles of 4-lane, beatifully-paved, car-free lanes. The complete loop around the river (from the Phila Art Museum to the Falls Bridge) is 8 miles, scenic Riverfront the whole way.

Check website for Action Wheels in Deptford http://actionwheels.com/site/index.cfm

They list local rides and may have something starting from the shop. Good luck

Leave bike at home: Traffic is miserable in that area!
