i just built an '03 vortex, hoping it would have a stiff bb and headtube. is it just me or do any of you think your vortex is kinda flexy. friend of mine rides a ct-1 and thats stiffer than my vortex. some people say this years vortex is stiffer and overbuilt, but i'm only 150 and can feel frame flex. it's a beautiful bike and very comfortable, maybe i just got used to it. just wish it were stiffer.

I don't know about this years model although I can tell you this. I went from a Litespeed Arenberg to a 1997 Vortex and the Vortex is much stiffer than the Arenberg is. The stiffness is comparable to my Klein Aeolus without the trashing of my body that I get when I ride the Klein.
PS, I'm ridng a 59 and weigh 170. nmJuanmoretime

I'm pretty big at 6'7', 215 pounds and I ride a 63 cm 01 Litespeed Ultimate. I tend to be really aggressive on the bike, and would notice any flex in the BB or headtube area. So far, I haven't detected any signs of flex in these areas.

Where do you feel the frame flex?
What were you riding before and did it flex?

A) Its probably not frame flex. Check your build again. And your wheels. And sometimes it depends on what bike you had previously ridden. The Vortex is known to be one of the lighter AND stiffer titanium bikes out there, yet still having a great ride.

B) You have one of the frames that did is typical of "Litespeed shoddy workmanship" that is written up here frequently.

Guess I don't really apply here since my litespeed is aluminum! But I'll give it a go anyway! The '03 Sirius is very, very stiff! It's also light and comfortable! Although I have only ridden rides of up to 90miles on the bike, I have never felt any ill effects from the stiffness.

You did not mention the type of wheels you're using. The flex you sense may be the wheels or the wheel/fork combo. The Vortex is one of the stiffest LS frames. A CT-1 or an all aluminum frame may feel stiffer than a ti frame in comparison, but something's not right if the bb actually flexes under force.
