On the morning ride it's the cold that wakes you, that makes you wish you had put on a windbreaker. Even though it'll be 80 this afternoon, it's 53 now and you feel it the first few miles. The morning sun is low, so that your shadow is long and you watch it against the side of the tall grass that grows along the country road where you ride. The shadow is you stretched thin like a character in an El Greco painting. People in their cars with their gas station coffee in styrofoam, paper and brushed stainless steel all have the same vacant expressions as they drive to work. The afternoon dog looks up in surprise from the front porch of the farmhouse as you ride by, hours earlier than you normally do. Too early to chase, perhaps. Or maybe just caught off guard. You smile as you ride past. The chill is gone, the blood is warm and the day has just begun.
Sun? You get morning sun? Grey (again). n/mfracisco
