I forgot to mention this Ebay ad early. Is he fibbing?Kristin

I emailed this guy and he claims that this is a 1-2 year old Trek 820 frame that he repainted because the powdercoat was chipping. But late model Trek 820's have fatter tubing than this. At best, doesn't it look at least 6 years old? Am I missing something or is this guy lying? But why lie about such a cheap bike to begin with. No used 820 will fetch more than $70.

Well....I think he's lying...As I recall Trek 820 has fatter tubing and A-head set. Why he's doing this I don't know but on an auction like e-bay I guess the Trek brand gives some points for an unexperienced buyer. The decals look like crap if you ask me. It doesn't look like a Trek 820. My advice; stay away!

Trek did go to fatter tubing a few years ago, but not sure exactly when. But for $155 to "buy it now" and $45 for shipping, why not just go to the LBS and get something new? I think the guy is greatly overestimating the value of this bicycle.

crap, early 90s at bestdante

The fork's raked out, highly doubt that the frame was even made for a suspension fork. That plus the 1" threaded headset/headtube screams early 90s, it's an ancient bike with crappy components. Scary to say, but a Wal-Mart bike would be better.

Take a look at this guys old auctions. One is for a Trek 820, with the original paint, looks like teh same bike. Although, the top tube sais Mountain Trak, or something similar. Is that the same as an 820? I don't think so.

The seller's other items are all $10 yard sale bikes, every one priced above $100.
How do you view a sellers old items? nmKristin

probably. My wife has a Trek 820 that's 4 years old (paid $250 for it brand new) and it has fatter tubing than this one. The Ebay bike looks like it's been ridden hard and put away wet.. New bikes in that style, but better equipped, can be had on sale for $200 or less. Just another Ebay hopeful I think..
