|When I wa a kid I had a 10 speed bike that I rode every where and tore the hell out of. But the wheels never became square or it give me the slightest problem. I want to get back into riding and I want a bike like I had when I was a kid. I like the road bike look and ride but if i want to go down a trail or across a field i just want to be able to go.
I've looked at:
--the Fuji cross and it looks good especially with the 105 component group and carbon fork.
--the Trek XO1 and it also looks good except the Sora Group and no carbon fork.
--the Specialized Allez sport..nice but limited to the road
--the Specialized 7500..road great but doesn't have the road bike feel
I want a bike that I can fly on but also go down some trails with!!!
I think I'm leaning more towards the Trek but what keeps stopping me is the lowerend component group, no carbon fork and that no one in the D.C. metro area seems to have one in stock.
If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it.

|Unfortunately you have a difficult choice. A road bike is best for the road, a mountain bike is best for off road and a cross bike does neither well, it's a compromise.|

|Dollar for dollar you can't beat it! Put on a set of road tires and your set. A friend of mine was in the same delima, and went with the Fuji, it's light and he love it. Carbon fork, 105 components, how can you go wrong. He raved about his so much, I got my wife one. We put on touring tires when she rides on the road and it works great, and put back on the cross tires when were going to ride the fire roads and trails.|| |
