Question: How much do you weigh group rides/club rides?eschelon

I'm asking this because on my Wednesday fast group rides, towards the end of the ride, we race for the line. The ladies usually don't partcipate in the race for the line while the few strongest guys do. Do you look at these as something much inferior to the actual races?

The Lardbutts' normal Sunday ride has a section at the midpoint where we crank it through a park and then sprint the last 300 yards or so to be the first rider to a group of picnic tables. It's a good workout, but it's nothing like the end of an actual race. At the few races that I've finished (one crit, one cross race, a couple of mountain bike races - I'm hardly the "voice of experience" here), the last lap and sprint have been VERY intense. Seeing spots, throwing-up kind of intense.

You guys can get ladies to ride with you? Daaang. While the "Team Lardbutt" jersey is a known chick magnet and aphrodisiac, the gender barrier on our Sunday rides has not yet been crossed.
Oh yeah...the ladies...let me tell ya...eschelon

about half of the riders are ladies and just about all of them vary in age...but damn, just about all of them are fine looking as hell. Younger, older...it don't matter, they are fine looking! I rack my head every week wondering weather I should ask some of them out without making them feel weird or uncomfortable and then making them think twice about doing what they love...perhaps it's better to not throw in the possibility of making them feel uncomfortable and leave it be.
We're just a bunch of old and wrinkly married guys...Gregory Taylor

Our days of being "dangerously handsome" are long past...

As my girlfriend's recovery continues, she could be a candidate - pretty tough rider in her day. She's a bit put off by the LardButt name though - go figure.

As for me, I'll be back out sometime... I've got a tri this weekend, and some travel plans, but look for me mid July ready to go.... I'm riding well, swimming like a rock and running....o.k.
