|Usually I train twice per week. These are hard, long rides that take me 2 days to fully recover from.
This week I added a third day. I kept a relatively longish distance of 30 miles but let up on the intensity. My legs felt a little dead.
Am I better off with just the two hard workouts or am I better off adding a third workout at a lower intensity and back off one of my other workouts to compensate?

|when 30 miles was a hard ride for me...anyway before I devolve this dicussion any further, if 30 miles is considered a longish ride and you feel dead for 2 days after, sounds like to me you are going too hard and don't train enough to warrant going so hard for 30 miles. You probably need to ride easy, easy as in not even breathing hard or hurting whatsoever for 4 days out of the week and work in 2 hard/fast 15 mile rides instead of the 30 hard miles that leave you feeling dead...but be sure to work in these fast rides 3-4 days after each other. What's the point of training hard if it causes you to lose 2 days of training? You only end up hurting yourself and losing fitness from the undue stress of your training style.|| |
