|Seat stay cracked. Oh my. Any thoughts?||bill|

|Just hanging around after our club ride yesterday, and people are checking out the lines of my brandy-new Fondriest P4 carbon bike. And there it is. A crack in the seatstay. I don't have a digital camera, or I'd post a pic.
Horizontal, only on the outside of the seatstay. It's about 3/4 of the way up. The stays are curved, and it's in the hollow of where the stay is curved inward.
Ugh. I'm sending it back, of course, but I know that there will be questions about how such a thing could happen. I hit some potholes along the way, but nothing bad enough to even pinch-flat the tire. The guy at Colorado Cyclist says he's never heard of a seat stay with that kind of a crack. Not just in this bike, but in any bike.

|No matter how good quality control is all along the line things get missed. Not often but it does happen.
That is why it is good to know the reputation of the seller and manufacturer of the products we buy.
Be happy that no harm was done and that the warranty is being honored.

|this after hammering for fifty miles. Lots of sprinting, attacking up hills -- yeesh. I think I'm going to be sick. As peeved as I was to take the frame apart to ship it, yeah I'm happy that nothing happened.|

|It may be a seam where two pieces were bonded. Is it a true fracture or a crack in the paint?
Either way, it needs to be returned.
