Ride Report - to protest the slaughter(3 posts)

Ride Report - to protest the slaughtercyclequip
Jun 9, 2003 2:46 AM
Did a ride on Saturday to protest at the recurring slaughter of RECREATIONAL riders in our country - last week 2 fellow riders mowed down by a totally inebriated driver. Estimates put the number at 1 recreational rider (not commuters) per week.
What was gratifying was seeing 2000 other riders on the ride. Sobering for me was riding next to a middle-aged woman on a MTB with horrible scars on her legs and a poster on her back that said: "Survivor of a hit and run"
We all stopped at the place where the latest tragedy took place, laid wreaths and paid respects to the families who were at the roadside.
