|Road ride looking for rattlesnakes...||rwbadley|

|I know a place we can ride. It's north of town, and if we're lucky, we may see a rattlesnake.
When you ride in rattler country, it is best to take precautions. The snake won't go for the first rider, he'll jump at the second.

|They seem to be smart blondes, standing out of the heat. Speaking of heat, it is about 10AM and starting to get a little toasty.|
|Oh jeez, not these things again...||rwbadley|

|We get these Mormon crickets. They are huge, (about 2.5" -3" long) there are millions of them. They go jumping, ping ping across the road. They shriek just before you run over the dam things. They crunch and shake the whole bike. They are slick on the road, when there are alot of them. When there aren't too many you can ride around them. Gross, nasty things...|
|oh my gawd, they're cannibals!||rwbadley|

|Thanks for all the reports as of late. I'm glad to see you are finding some time to get out there. I am jeolous of the sunshine, we have been socked in by heavy marine layer for many days in Santa Barbara, there is no end in sight.|

|A guy from Santa Barbara complaining about the weather. ;-) We've been dealing with the same drizzly marine layer in L.A. I'd rather be dealing with it in your town.|

|Sorry to hear your weather has been lousy. I think that is typical of the high pressure system that has been floating over the west. You should see sunshine by about...September. No, I hope it breaks before then!
I have been able to get out more lately, I think I've been doing about 150-200mi/week. I also just finished a major work project, and should be able to do even more riding now!

|I used to run gambling tours with Grayline from Monterey, CA. for soldiers from Fort Ord back in the early 80's. We would stay at the Sundowner Hotel. I had a heck of a winning streak going at Boomtown. Saw the best stage show of my life at the MGM Grand (Hello Hollywood Hello). Thanks for the pics!|
|I do some off-road...||rwbadley|

|Mostly road ride. Goatheads (puncture vines) are a serious threat around here. Most of the established trails and single track are pretty clean tho.
The MGM is no more, it changed to Bally's and is now the Reno Hilton.
I was once on the crap table, shortly after moving here in '81. I didn't know anything about the game. I had my bet down and rolled for a solid half hour. I didn't have any other money down the whole time. Everyone on the table made a bloody fortune! I, on the other hand, ended up losing my bet after crapping out seven. One time I filled out a keno ticket, went up to post the game. The dealer said "game closed" I sat down and watched each one of my six numbers come up! Anyway, I don't give them much of my money anymore. A big day for me is change dumped into the slot at the Albertsons (grocery) ;-)
