I got a press pass for the USPRO championships this sunday and will be taking photos for my university's newspaper. When I went to pick up the press pack today there was a leaflet by Cervelo announcing their new R2.5 roadbike designed for and with the feedback of Team CSC. It will be a tubes & lugs model and is supposed to weigh under 1000 grams.

P.S.what's up with all the posers in team kit without helmets that I've been seeing all week long in Philly :)
I thought it was supposed to be unveiled at the TDF?kenyee

There is more info and a photo on cervelo's site:

Compact geometry, a rather steep 73.5 seatangle (at least for the larger sizes)...

If you go to, there's a Cervelo mailing list/user group.

Gerard (one of Cervelo's founders actually replies to people there which is pretty unusual)...

I've been saying it...even did a project for a grad class on it, but, I'm sure if it ever happens it won't happen this year or the next since they are under some financial stress. We'll see...

... Cannondale did R&D a carbon fiber frame a few years ago... one of the noticable results being their Slice range of CF forks...

Hard to say what the future holds... some Kleins now have CF stays (benefitting from OCLV tech) and CAAD7 perhaps reaching the limits of the material's properties with respect to lightweight and durability... and as you noted, even though the bike side of 'Dale did well during their recent financial upheaval, they'll have to post a lot of positive numbers before shareholders will risk risky ventures again.

Be the bike.

There's no lack of finance anymore...more a matter of some reorganization now. Rumor has it Cannondale will release a carbon reinforced thermo plastic/aluminum lugged road frame before '04.
