It was taken about two weeks ago at the Merckx distributor for the Netherlands. The look on the mannequin's face was just too funny to pass up:)

It's a litle too lifelike! I have enough problems sleeping without fear that my mannequin is out terrorizing the local villagers!

New for 2004! It's Robo-Eddy, the Mechanical Belgian!Gregory Taylor
Jun 6, 2003 7:18 AM
And now....from Merckx, the manufacturers of world- reknowned racing cycles, it's the 2004 Robo-Eddy, the Mechanical Belgian!

After years of waiting for the "next" Eddy Merckx to arrive and dominate the world of professional cycling, only to be disappointed time and time again as each pretender to "the Cannibal's" lofty palmares fell by the wayside, who better than the Merckx Bicycle Company to finally provide the Belgian public with the champion that they so deeply desire. The 2004 Robo-Eddy is guaranteed to light up the Pro Peloton and dish out the Flandrian Smack-Down or Walloon Whup-A$$ in this summer's Grand Tours.

Bio-engineered to replicate the best of four decades of Belgain riders, the Robo-Eddy is programmed to dominate without all of the complications that human riders present. You 2004 Robo-Eddy will be delivered with the following features fully operational:

* Beer-Blok: Tempted by those fine Belgain beers, like Peter Van Petegem? No worries here, because with patented Beer-Blok technology your Robo-Eddy can tip back a Trappist Ale or five without looking like, well, our Eddy.

* EPO Guard: Merckx bio-engineers understand that, in these days of rigorous drug testing and police prosecutions, misunderstandings can occur and reputations can be tarnished over the most innocent of situations. Even pet owners in the peloton and the animals that they love have been unfairly tarred as participants in this scourge of cycling. Just ask Frank Vandebroucke's dog. Equipped with Merckx-developed EPO Guard technology, there will be no question of passing an in-competition drug test: Robo-Eddy's hematocrit is factory set at a UCI-Legal 49.999%! And as an added bonus, you can forget about testing positive for those pesky human growth hormones because your Merckx Robo-Eddy isn't human!

Blah, blah, blah...
