|Looking thru old discussions it looks to me like Endurox R4 is barely edible. Can anyone recommend something. Extran? I'm no racer or aspire to be but would like to try a suplement for my rides. I ride 4 or so times a week road and occasionally mountain.
How about homemade stuff? Ice cream, banannas, protein?

|Orange juice (or one of those tropical all fruit mixes) with whey protein. Whip it up in a blender (or one of those little hand-held jobbies). Tastes great and OJ has a fairly good amount of potassium. Another option is to mix the whey with milk and coffee (cold) and eat a banana with it (today).|

|I second the Whey protein from GNC. I mix water, protein powder, ice cubes, and any extra fruit lying around plus yogurt if available. Tastes good, fills me up, and is good for me. The only negative is that it takes a few minutes to prepare. Often after a ride, I get REAL hungry REAL fast.
I agree about Endurox and Extran..yuck.

|Mix one Kool-aid mix and 1/2 cup of powerdered sugar....this stuff insn't very sweet but just sweet enough.
Also add two shakes of salt into the whole mix and you are good to go. Then eat real food...forget about that gatorade,endurox, stamina, sexual tyranosaurus drink mixes...carbs and sugar is what your body immediately needs and then refuel with real food.

|Last fall I took a close look at the ingredients of Country Time lemonade mix, and the store-brand equivalents, and discovered they're very close to my favorite hydration drink, Gookinade ERG.
I've tried diluted lemonade mix as a hydration beverage both riding and recovering, and it seems to work pretty well, and the store brands are dirt cheap compared to any sports drink. I'm more interested in the rehydration aspect ... if I want nourishment I'll eat something.

|Nothing beats non-fat Ice cold milk. carbs, protein= the fat. Add a tablespoon or two of sugar for extra carbs. It tastes good. I got the idea by reading that Saeco does this post ride at their training camp, in a beginning of the season Cycle Sport. I also really like Accelerade and Endurox.|

|The best help for my post ride recovery is a nap with my feet up after eating and drinking my fill of whatever. Real peanut butter (ground peanuts) and banana is a favorite, but not quite an addiction. Granola fried in egg batter works if I'm not too lazy or too tired to make it.|

|12 oz. cold, organic, skim milk, one tbs. Ovaltine, one tbs. malt powder, one scoop chocolate flavored protein powder. Shake and serve!|

|All you need to do is eat something. Even the "magic" 4:1 carb:protein ratio turns out is just a number, not actually an optimum. The "study" on this simply showed 4:1 better than no protein, but never looked at different protein %. Eat some fruit, eat some salted nuts, drink some water, you'll be fine. For 4 rides per week, we're not talking the difference between PanAm Gold and PanAm Silver.|
