Beautiful century... Lake Tahoe ride...rwbadley

Today was the Lake Tahoe "Most Beautiful Century" ride. 3000 folks showed up to ride the Lake. The official ride started from the south side of the lake. Lake Tahoe is 74 miles round, and the extra spur down to Truckee makes it an even 100. I started from the east side, and hoped our paths wouldn't overlap too much. I love these early morning long shadows...

It was a great day for riding. The early morning temps were just nice and cool, the afternoon temp was warm, not hot with a little cool breeze...

Neat little tunnel to ride through. They even have a button you can push to flash lights to let car drivers know there is a cyclist in the tunnel. The better to aim for you...

I wish there were mountains like that in Holland. I have to travel to another country before anything remotely resembles what you've got.

Sure you were...

Nice pics. I need to go there some time. What's that black spot that keeps appearing in the sky? UFO? Eclipse? Is my retina detaching?

boy you are killing me bringing back some good good memories and times with your last few ride reports. looking at those pictures I remember perfectly the smell of the pines and the dryness of the air brings back good good times. We use to do a special low key ride around the camp Richardson area then back up kingsbury thru heavenly valley god that was awesome anyways thanks for the great pictures I wish I was back there.

The sky is so much bluer at higher elevations, isn't it? Good pics.

Reminded me of many, many vacations there. Only biked off road - the Flume Trail.Wonder if you can still do that.
The roads must get pretty crowded in the summer.

Actually, the CA/NV line runs right down the middle of the lake itself, and right thru the center of South Lake Tahoe (where all the casinos are).

rw, nice photos. I was there, one of the TNT riders. Beautiful ride, wonderful cause. Thanks for the photos. Photos just can't do justice to the scenery out there, though. Hope to be back again someday...
