After that 3 week effort Simoni could ride backwards naked and he'd still be The Man. No one could touch this guy, but will he still have any form left for Lance, et al. If he comes out strong in 4-5 weeks, look out folks. His climbing form was absolutely frightening. He would've killed Savoldelli and Cauchiolli in '02. Maybe even a healthy Tyler. No one likes the ONCE boys in pink either?
I'd ride in pink if I stunk but only weighed 125 lbs! At 170 lbs I ride invisibly no matter what I wear or ride.

Agreed he was da man !
He sure looks lean & mean in this shot too. ( pink aside ;-)
I hope he can show up at the TDF & cause problems in the mountains. I would love to see a TDF with somehting more than the daily postal train shedding cars one by one up the mountains at *their* pace.

One more thing... Garzelli hats off to him for keeping 2nd.
I thought Popo would wax him in the TT for sure considering he put 43 sec on him at the last TT.

speaking of lean and mean looking, take a gander at his arms in that 2nd shot. Holy cripes! Gibi is ripped. He wasn't kidding when he said he'd trained like a man possesed.
i like the ONCE boys in pinkrufus

and i like the pink jersey. but this is just too much.

one thing about cipollini is he really ruined things with his matching his kit and bike to whatever jersey he happened to be wearing. the pink jersey looks great with a regular pair of black bibs(see hampsten), or probably even with simoni's usual red. but matching everything looks horrible, in my opinion.
FANTASTIC shots, but...Souxsie

What's up with the American male's obsession with colors looking too dainty? Why are men so afraid of pink? This reminds me of the guy on bikeforums.net who said he'd never wear the rainbow jersey lest someone think he is gay. And does the TDF yellow jersey make you look like a coward? Jay Leno made a comment about Mapei bibs a few months back and how gay that looked. Seems to be a common theme.

I gotta tell you, I think a guy looks great in all those different colored kits. From a woman's perspective, there's certainly no mistaking his manhood.
why? little baby girls wear pink nmDougSloan

What would John Wayne do?Geardaddy
Jun 2, 2003 8:25 AM
That pretty much describes the American attitude. John Wayne would never wear a pink outfit! :)

I think if there was a Tour of U.S.A. the leader would wear a denim jersey. You know - more of that Harley biker look.
