Taking pics and riding is hard...here goes nothing.divve

I planned a trip from Holland to Belgium yesterday.

On my way.

Note how well you're protected here from the people driving their tin cans.

To the right...

Finally getting somewhere...right hand turn and on my way to Valkenswaard

....wonderful scenery right around the corner

I'm starting to think Belgium might be farther away than I thought it would be:)

Still going at a good pace...by now I noticed some "old-timer" roadie trailing (stalking) me...he never said a word nor offered to pull.

Getting close...Bank Change...don't they know they have Euros in Belgium too?

Approaching the border and cycling "Mecca" of Northern Europe.

Exactly at the border crossing.

Not sure what they're selling on the right hand side of the street, but it looks like they're having fun.

....it's official now.

Always good to have Belgium chickens siding with you.

Deeper into the heartland....it really does feel like you're going faster here:)

The Flemish need their news.

...they can't seem to do without bread either:) A machine for when the shops are closed.

Something for everyone.

You can even get a beer from the machine next to it.

.....leaving Lommel now.

Passed a local artist (got the camera viewpoint messed up but I thought it was an interesting pic nevertheless).

...looks like I'm entering Lommel again.

For the Flemish bike route turn right.

A fellow roadie is approaching. The only one that day who took the time to say hi.

Looks like he was having fun. I decided to head out where he came from.

Oh no...I'm back in Lommel again in front of the worlds most renowned center for culture and international relations. Now I've had it.

....heading home.

It's where I just came from...took a brake farther up there...

The rig....should have never changed the saddle from my trusty SLR Trans Am...got damage beyond repair.

Going fast now and I've crossed the border already. It's getting late. No time for many pics on my way back.

Almost home...of course I took the wrong turn farther up the road and extend my trip by 20 clicks.

...they are coming

The sheep couldn't help me with directions either.

Lost a lot of salt but made it home finally...after 102.9Km

...it's hard to imagine that there's actually somewhere that's that accommodating to cyclists. I truly envy you!

Great report and photos! Thanks!

Who cares about accommodating to cyclists? You can buy friggin beer from a vending machine! ;-) Nice report.
Sounds like you need to visit Japan...The Walrus

...it's vending machine heaven--you can get beer, sake and whiskey, and for those hangovers,
i hot
canned coffee, milkshakes or corn soup. (Not to mention the nylon stockings, rice balls, porn magazines and pork cutlets...)

I'll bet I can't buy a Belgian beer from a Japanese vending machine. The vending machine pork and porno doesn't sound so bad though. ;0
Thanks for the comments and kind words everyone:) nm.divve
