I just recently crossed from the world of xc mountain biking to road and I'm wondering why I get teased for wearing mtn shoes, a camelbak, and a helmet with a visor, even when I'm riding just as fast or faster than they are.

we're a vain bunch. half this sport is about looking good.

mtn shoes, camelbaks and visors just dont cut it.

If they didn't, they'd just ignore you.

I even have Eggbeaters.

Just let them know that it takes a true visionary to break from the mold of conformity and that those that do feel compelled to fit in are merely sheep.

Then when they tease you, just go "BAAAHHHH" :P

(That being said, I'm planning on getting a pair of Sidi and SPD-SLs soon.)

Hey, I understand. I'm ordering cages and bottles and I took the visor off my helmet. But I'm still keeping the shoes, it's a lot nicer to walk in if I ride to the store or whatnot and the only difference between them and the same version of road shoes is the rubber tread.
