seems a bit early to leak this. Looks like nothing much will change. Why mess with a good thing? I'll bet trek keeps the 5200 realtively unchagned for a few more years anyway.

Interesting, where did you find the pics? For that matter, I've wondered how people find pics of new bikes that aren't out yet, or haven't been announced to the public. Is there a website you went to, or do you know someone at Trek? Just curious because I just ordered a 5200 in Black Pearl Carbon, due in next week. My lbs doesn't even know what the new colors will be, lol.

Trek has a dealer only website. The pictues were posted there yesterday. Two new bikes for '04, the 5700 that Lance rode at LBL and a new 5900. Neither one has been officially revealed yet but we all saw the pictures of the 5700 last month on the Lance website. Trek did tell me though that the new 5900 will not have a sloping toptube. Lance does not want to ride a "girls bike". The 5700 and the 5900 are both OCLV 110 and will have 10 speed Dura Ace on them, release will be September or October when the new DA will be ready for the public. Prices have not been set yet. It also looks like the 5500 will not be back.
Dealer you understand...bugleboy

I guess you don't. If the public was meant to have this information I pretty sure that Trek would've made it available.

This "spy report" is barely earth shattering- and it certainly won't make anyone WAIT for the next model year.

Sure it is "dealer only" but if the info were that TOP SECRET, they wouldn't have left it anywhere near the internet.
Thank you Mr. Omniscience...and the public WILL have that...MVN

info fairly soon. To paraphrase what the other guy said, it ain't top-secret if it's on the internet.

My shop had seen early pics of these models this week and as bill mentioned the official announce through the Trek "dexter" site. The changes were only in color but initially the 5200 was supposed to see a nice facelift but the changes did not come to fruition, what resulted was posted in the above pics. I am aware that some dealers were dropping price on 5200's a little extra based on the thought that bigger changes were in the pipeline.

Trek is also working on some new components and will brand them XXX Lite (nice eh?). A lower profile carbon rimmed wheel is one product slated and the 5900 fork is a XXX re-design. No more dual bearing sizes for the top and bottom headset cups. It will be paired with the 5900 at least and with the steerer being a uniform size can be used on other bikes.

The lower profile rims were used by Lance and crew at LBL and some other races. The new stuff should show its face come July......
