Time eliminations...(2 posts)

Time eliminations...GreenFan

It seems to me that an injustice has been done in this Giro. Thinking back to last year's Tour, the only reason why McEwen was able to beat Zabel out of the green jersey competition was first because he cut off Zabel's line in one of the sprints and Zabel didn't bother to protest and second the Tour decided to forgive the "laughing group" from coming in way past the cut off time...this same laughing group that contained McEwen but not Zabel (who suffered and made the cut). Now, in yesterday's stage, after a hailstorm and in spite of injuries sustained just two days before, Petachi was eliminated along with 34 others, thus erasing his dominance in the points competition and effectively handing the points jersey to one of the GC competitors. Anyone else have any thoughts on either instance ?

Give them one hour after dark to finish. Then, lucky fans like me get to chase them brandishing a pair of copper nipple clamps hotwired to a DieHard car batteries. That'll get them moving!
