Euro Jersey Sizing??(6 posts)

Euro Jersey Sizing??shamelessgearwhore

So I first thought it was some kind of overstock joke when I saw some of these Jerseys online with sizing of 6XL! I mean if you compare it to American T-Shirt sizes how would such an individual even get on a bike. I started reading a little further and realized that this is normal (so who wears a euro small?) I wear XL t-shirts and like stuff to fit a little loose. I don't care what the pros wear, but is there a reasonable comparison for Euro Jerseys to say an American XL?
loose Am. XL = Euro 4XL at least, IMOgeeker

I wear Euro 6=2XL short-sleeve jerseys, and they're roughly equivalent to American L - longer in the tail but tighter. I have 2 Euro 7=3XL long-sleeve jerseys, and they're not too much bigger than an American L. If you want a loose fit, I'd guess at least Euro 4XL.

I never in my life would have thought about ordering a 4xl ANYTHING! What's up with that I wonder? American's on average are a bit large but not so much that average European men would wear US Small? Weird sizing.

You're welcome. But I forgot to mention that sizing of different mfrs. may vary. Some online vendors such as www.bikejerseys.com and www.cbike.com have sizing charts (I checked them before ordering discounted product from elsewhere). I can say for sure that Nalini and DeMarchi jerseys are very tight.
Nalini tight? Maybepeter1

I just bought a Nalini Boulangere jersey from ProBikeKit. Their sizing was from 3 (small) to 7 (2xl). I have about a 42" chest so I figured the 6 would work, knowing what I've always heard about European sizing. Surprisingly, the 6 was way too big and the 5 was even a bit loose in the torso. I got the 5 because the 4 was too tight in the arms (gotta stop surfing).

I've got jerseys in both medium and large, depending on the company. I've found the ones that fit me best have raglan sleeves vs. set ins. Bottom line, I have no idea whether a jersey will fit me until I try it on.

Maybe you're right, one has to try them on. I got some Nalini "Team T-Shirt" jerseys in Euro 6(2XL) from Sierra Trading Post, and they're definitely snug. I weigh 185# and wear a 41-XL dress suit, FWIW. Also wear Nalini 7(3XL) long-sleeve jerseys (Probikekit non-team model) to get extra sleeve length, and don't find them loose.
