|W & OD trail collapse||Paul|

|Out riding with a friend last nigh around 5 pm, and after crossing Ashburn Rd heading west, rode down about a 1/4 mile and found a section of the trail that collaspe near a small creek. The hole was about 10 feet deep, and about 5 feet across. We called the Park Rangers, and they closed the trail. You can use the horse path to get around, some mud, but not too bad. I can only imagine what would have happen after dark when commuters were going home from work.|

|... it is hard to see a hole in black, wet asphalt. I imagine it could have been quite a trap! Thanks for reporting it!
I've only ridden it once ... what town is Ashburn Rd. near?
|It's in Ashburn, right below Ashburn Village. If you remember||Paul|

|Parlow's, a store right on the trail, you cross Ashburn Rd. right there. Real scary, glad my buddy had a cell phone. could easily be killed or badly injured with a hole that deep.|

|I was wondering what the deal was with the closing.
They closed up a good length of it too.
This is the area before the hockey rink, right?

|bypass it via the horse trail, albeit a little muddy. That size hole could easily kill someone, man, this has been a terrible year for riding. Can you imagine coming east with a tail wind doing an easy 25 mph, and that hole opens in front of you. |
I was badly injured last year after hitting a ground hog, so be careful of those critters.

|I was riding there last night. Almost hit a rabbit too.:)
It's closed off really well now. Thanks again for calling it in.
