I'm looking forward to a flat century after the hills and wind of the Stateline 60(67) last weekend. I've never ridden this one. How large of a crowd do they get for this? So far, the weather looks good on Sunday.
Hmmm. Do they have a web site?Kristin

We'll be out there. Only plan on doing 50 though. She doesn't want to 'push' too hard (pun intended), otherwise we'd do more. Then again, the weather has been so crappy here that we don't have many miles in this year, so maybe it's a good thing.
Good, I'm not the only one with a lack of miles under my beltKristin

I got out and grimmaced through 40 miles on Sunday. It hurt. I won't tell you my average. ;-0 I'm not sure I have the courage to show up for an RBR gathering just yet. I'm WAY out of shape.
C'mon! All you can eat spaghetti dinner after!MisJG

This is a pretty decent ride every year and your ride cost includes the all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner afterwards! I think there may be a new deal with Donley's Wild West Town also where we can actually get in this year.
Yum. Over saturated spaghetti noodles in watery sauce. (Did you hear sirens?)Kristin

I think we just had sirens in Downers Grove. It was a good light show. But the siren guys seem to be trigger happy in Chicagoland...they must have boring jobs here in the extreme tip of tornado alley.

Anyway. Perhaps I will show. I'm not sure I should do 50. I know I can...but "should" I??? Eeeh, probably not. :) But it would be fun meeting other people.

Didn't hear the sirens. . .MisJG

But I'm not too far from DG. I'm in Oakbrook, just up the road a piece (think Butterfield about halfway between Yorktown and Oakbrook Malls). My wife said she heard there were funnels in Naperville.

I'm gonna do it and I only have a few 20 milers under my belt this year. If we don't see you out there, maybe I'll see you on the road sometime since we ride the same roads all the time. My company moved to Oakbrook and I'm working out the logistics now, but if I can do it, my bike commute will take me right past Warrenville and Finley twice a day! So you may see me out there some Friday (my only bike commutable day) going to (or from) work. My bike commute was 5.5 miles (one way) when we were in Lisle, now it will be 13 miles (one way). Look for a white Schwinn LeTour (my commuter) with red panniers and that's me!
If you need help with your commute route, let me knowKristin

I've gotten to know the roads out here pretty well. But that's a bummer of a move. Butterfield is a pretty crazy street. Anyway, think 31st Ave. If I were you, I might even consider taking Warrenvill or Maple to Belmont, Then take Prarie east from Belmont, North on Main to 31st and then you could take Myers or Midwest up to Butterfield. That will as a couple miles though. Then perhaps Midwest North to Butterfield. Good Luck!

I'll probably show up this weekend. It will be good for me to ride in the general vacinity of other people and to see some new scenery. I'll look for you. What will you and your wife be riding?

Mine - Blue R500
Hers - Dark Blue (almost black) R600 with a dent in the top tube (think "Disturbing Photos" post. Remember? You said "Duct Tape"!)

I think I have the route as Yackley North, to Warrenville East, to Finley North, across Butterfield to 22nd East, to Meiers, then through some parking lots and I'm there!
Yep, that's a better route! See ya on Sunday. nmKristin

We both have aerobars on our bikes. We both do triathlons (I got her into the sport a few years ago), so the 'bars stay on our bikes all the time. Should make us easier to spot! Don't worry all you 'fred-aphobes'. Even though we have aerobars, we know how to ride in a crowd. IMO, aerobars don't make you a 'fred' if you know how and when to use them properly.
So, Kristin, what will you be riding?
Oh, Bernardo...of course!! :)Kristin

Bernardo being my yellow/black DeBernardi Aelle. I recieved a last minute invite to hike the Dunes and was torn. But I tried a short walk yesterday and my foot throbbed, so the bike wins. I'll be there on Sunday, perhaps a little worse for wear. (Somehow I can't get motivated this year.)
Bad Weather = Low MotivationMisJG

Tuesday this week was a perfect example of the low motivation I have suffered this year also (I blame the poor 'spring' weather we've been having). It was a beautiful day, sunny, low 70s when I got home. I got as far as getting dressed for a ride but for some reason, filling my water bottles was too much work and that's where I stopped. Then my wife and daughter got home and once they are home, I just want to spend time with them after being at work all day. So I changed clothes and stayed home. PS. Just happened to look at my trainig log bike total for this year. . . 70 miles. :( On the plus side, I've been able to run more. Cool weather is good for that at least. Hoping this ride will jump-start the season!
