Hi, I want to purchase a new Thompson Elite stem for my bike, but I am unsure how to measure the size of the Bontrager stem that is currently on there. Are they measure center to center? Because it is measuring 9cm c-c on a size 54 Trek 5200. Am I measuring correctly? Thanks.

and parallel to the extension. There can occasionaly be a deviation of up to 5mm, depending on whether the center to center is at the the top of the stem (like quill stems) or along the side through the center point of the bars.

The ones measured along the side may measure a bit longer than the stated size if you scale across the top.
