Determines what I will use. Water=under 30 miles. Gatorade and water=65 or less. And sometimes I mix up the secret rocket fuel....water diluted cherry coke, high test for me.

About the only science that went into it for me was how my stomach tolerates what I am drinking. Really hate the acidic after taste I get from too strong or much gatorade. Trial and error science.

I got tired of having sticky stuff all over the bike. Now I just drink water and eat food, and it all works just fine. Plus food (Fig Newtons are a favorite) tastes better! I get my electrolytes from salted nuts.

I mix Gatorade powder and maltodextrin 1:1 and mix it to 75g per litre. Cheap! Just as good as Extran, GPush G2, etc.
