Specialized Allez Pro/Comp = good?Dorf411

Been doing my bike shopping and having a bit of a tough time deciding what I want. I know what fit I need and this bike is a great fit along with many others. More than one LBS just rants about how much better this bike is compared to Trek 2300, Cannondale, Pinarello Gailileo, and De Rosa Team to name a few. Is this bike really that great? These same shops are shops that sell some or most of the other bikes I am considering.

Now today I find my LBS has a killer deal $1,499 for the Comp and $2,100 for the Pro. This just seems too hard to pass up.

I already have two steel road bikes that are smooth and weight quite a bit comparatively so this seems like it would be quite refreshing to get a lighter stiffer bike for a different ride and feel.

Any comments regarding the quality and value when compared to the others?

Thanks
John

I have an allez frame on my bike, and I like it a lot. I find it very quick and responsive and light. As to the rest of the bike, and differentiating form the pro/elite/comp etc, it's all about the wheelset and components and such that specialized does not make and those differences are universal regardless of the frame builder.
