There was a thread a couple months ago about a website that offered a HUGE selection of different water bottles at super prices....

Specifically, I'm looking for 28oz clear with medium mil thickness with conventional pop top (with soft rubber spout).---I think Specialized makes these for other companies.

Thanks! I'm sick of paying $4 to $5 a bottle!

Sales come and go. I got a couple of nice Nashbar bottles that sound like you describe (clear w/ rubber pop top) for $1.99 each recently. They go nicely with the bottle cage I got for $2.99. (Which is functionally identical to my elite Ciussi, but the finish isn't quite as nice).

By the time you paid shipping, I can't imagine a mail-order water bottle would be any cheaper than what they sell at the local bike shop -- unless you were ordering other gear anyway. Water bottles are one of the few things I do buy at the LBS. Even at their inflated prices, they're still cheap.

depending on whether your LBS is having a sale....

My LBS sells my bottle of choice between $3 and $5.

Performance sells the same bottle (different graphics) for $3 each...

So..... You're right. The prices are similar.

What I'm looking for now is a certain website that was mentioned here previously that described the same bottles for $2 each. Not a huge deal but if I buy 20....

btw- I did several searches on this forum with no success

20 bottles for a season:\

2 would be lost hitting New Jersey potholes or on the trail

6 would get sooo scummy with crud that I'd be forced to discard....

4 would be loaned to, borrowed by or just given to others

1 would get trashed or destroyed or busted somehow

7 would remain in my arsenal for the following year.

530 hours a year on a bike takes it's toll on water bottles

next year I'm buying 25..
Scary to think...Matno

that I've been using the same water bottle for 3 years now. I only just bought 2 new ones (to match my new bike). However, you can buy as many as you like. Maybe someday I'll find one of yours on the side of the road and use it for a few years... :^)
