Best new saddle?(6 posts)

Best new saddle?ridewt

I'm in the market for a new saddle and like the looks of some of the newest Selle Italia saddles. The ones I have in mind or the SLK or the SLR Trans Am. Both weight about 185 grams. I looked at the SLR trans am on a friends bike and liked the fact that the nose is more padded than my old Flite and that the seat seems to flex a bit to soak up bumps. Anyone have much experience with these new saddles or other suggestions? Another friend has the FIZIK Alliante but I don't want to spend that much dough. Thanks.

Sack the SLR and SLK Italia's, go for one of the Selle San Marco Aspide's, far better saddles and'll last longer.

Do those flex in the nose and have decent padding in the nose so when you're really hammering in a race and sitting near the tip of the saddle, there is something to actually provide some relief? And, by the way, where have you seen the new Aspide saddles for sale? Thanks.
I'd vote for the Aliante anywayCHRoadie

I know, you said you don't want to spend the dough. But hear me out: it's the most comfortable saddle I've ever ridden, and that was from day one. It's only about 160 grams. Yeah, it was expensive, but my butt is worth it.

I winced at the price tag, but I haven't flinched since... for
i any
reason. Certainly not when I put a couple more on the other rides....
