|I assume that you are running with 26 inch wheels; as you stated the 85 psi tire pressure. I use to use Avocet Cross 26 x 1.5 tires on my tandem. Last summer I was touring in the States and picked up a set of Avenir "Streetster" 100 psi tires at a LBS. These tires were inexpensive ($25.00 each). We have about 500 miles on these tires and there is no sign of wear. The tread pattern is very minimal; check out attached photo. The were two big advantages to these tires over the Avocet; less rolling resistance, and no road noise (very quiet tire).
