|Hoping someone can help me...
I ordered a Specialized Allez Pro 18 (20030. It should have come with their carbon Aero seat post but instead came with a carbon seat post that is not aero shaped and in addition has a hole in the middle of it with a hard, clear plastic insert in the hole (the hole is designed to be there).
Has anyone ever seen this seatpost? Does anyone know why i got this seat post? What Specialized bike does such seat post usually come on? Thanks very much.

I'm not up to date on the details of the 2003 Allez seatpost, but I have watched the line because I have a 2001 Allez Comp. You most likely got the seatpost that comes on all the other Allez models this year (except the bottom one, it's got a steel post).
And, just to be clear, you got Dura Ace, Ksyrium's, a brushed crome like finish. and paid something north of $2000.00, right ? If it's Ultegra, Shimano 540's, white and you paid something south of $2000.00 you've got a Comp, not a Pro.
Call your shop and ask for the other seatpost. You'll probably get to keep them both.

|It sounds from your description that you have received the new Specialized Pave' seat post. Go to Specialized's web site for details at http://www.specialized.com/SBCEqProduct.jsp?section=13165&browselevel=components&JServSessionIdroot=c5xe9olx96.j27004. That clear plastic insert is a polymer that is supposed to absorb some road shock. A buddy on my race team has one and likes it quite a bit.|

|Thanks for the replies. DMoore, you're right. Apparently I did get this new seat post. My LBS called specialized to ask why I got this one. Specialized had trouble with the Aero forks breaking thus they are equiping their allezs (at least the Pro)with this new seat post.
