Someone told me the tires I have on my road bike are too wide for racing. My tires are Specialized New Turbo Sport, 700 x 23c, Flak Jacket. Are 700 x 23c tires too wide? If so, what is a better size? If I change the tire width, do I need more narrow rims?

Just kidding. Your tires are fine. The someone who told you that, is full of crap, and doesn't know what he is talking about. Next time you see him, tell him that he is an idiot. (But smile when you say it)

I think the size is fine. One thing about the turbo sports, they ride a little harsh, and I never thought they stuck very well if you're going to do much cornering. A decent training tire, they seem to last pretty well.

Cool, thanks, that is what I thought. What tires are nice for raceing? Ones that will not run too much?

|Unless you look at "biketiresdirect.com" I hate to recomend them, because I think that they are "Grey Market", but the prices can't be beat.
A good racing tire is the Vittoria Open CX. If you use them for training, the rear will wear out in less than 1000 miles. That's why you should have at least two wheelsets if you are racing.
