|Bibs Too Hot||nicholasdunford|

|I took peoples advice and went to look at bibs. I tried on a bunch in the store, and they seem to be very warm. I live in AZ so this is a big concern. I tried Castelli's, Pearl Izumi's, Desente's, and Sugoi's. All had mesh uppers and were nice, I just don't know if they will be too warm on my rides. Anyone else live in warm climate that can give their opinion?|

|As you know, Fresno is very hot, too. That extra layer of material is just too much for me. I normally wear my bibs only in winter, or for races when required.

|I live in southern louisiana. 90+ degrees and 90% humidity is a normal day. To be honest when it's that hot it really doesn't matter.
I wear bibs. I just think they are more comfortable. Just a preference. If it's really hot I don't think it will matter, it's not like your wearing an extra layer just the the straps.

|I live in Arizona too, Tempe to be specific. Bibs are the only way to go. Even if it is a 110 bibs are the best. Try Voler's, they are good for the money.

|I live in Houston, 90+ with high humidity. I still prefer the bibs. I personally like the low end bibs made by Giordana, they are 190 gm suplex lycra and really don't seem any hotter than regular shorts. At the end of a ride you are soaked from head to toe no matter what you wear.|

|I ride in Fresno and don't seem to get too hot.
Then again, I like nothing better than 105 degrees for an afternoon ride.

|I regularly take afternoon rides in Tucson during the summer wearing bibs. They are cooler than shorts. They allow more air circulation.
Would you be cooler in a pair of farmers overalls or a pair of bluejeans with a belt?
Shorts have a waistband that cuts off any air circulation to and from any areas above or below the wasteband. You wind up with a puddle of sweat above, below and soaked into the wasteband of shorts.
With bibs, you just have the thin, stretchy lycra lightly covering this area. This allows free flow of air and circulation. Shoulder straps and a mesh back don't add any additional feeling of heat.

|I bought some No Fear bibs on closeout at an LBS. I paid $25.00 thinking a worst, I can use them for short rides. They are the most comfortable bibs I've owned. THey have a white mesh upper that is very cool even in the Texas heat.|

|They're fine. Sure Arizona is not the place to be over dressed. I use some middle of the road giordana bibs. The way Pearl Izumi is constantly changing the tayloring of their shorts makes me a bit crazy. There's no reason a cyclist can't have a pair of bibs hanging around that they enjoy using.|

|Well, I have. Wait..I live here. Its damn hot since we've got that oh so cozy 'right next to the equator' thing going on. I wouldn't wear anything other than bibs.
Cycling makes me warm either way, I've never noticed bibs making me any warmer.

|The midwest gets CRUEL humidity to add insult to injury, and I still insist on bibs over shorts. As long as you ride fast enough, you'll have a breeze to cool you ;)
No matter what, you will be hot- just make sure you have a coolmax jersey, and not some polyester "garbage bag" jersey that refuses to breathe.

|The Castellis I have have a very high spandex bib in the front. They're hot. The Assos I have are cut much lower - the front scallop is below the navel, so they're no different than shorts. They're not hot. The Pearl Izumis I just got appear to be about halfway between the two - also not hot. And, I like you live in the desert SW. Comfort-wise the PI 3Ds are blowing me away with how nice they are.|
