|I posted this on yesterday's thread just now, but it is now off the first page here, and since I am too lazy to check page2 whenever I login, I assume most are the same way. :)
The Red Cross near me likes to have platelet donations, check if the one in your area can take that type of donation. It takes a long time, aprox 1.5 hrs, but the blood goes out, the spin out the platlets and put your red blood cells back in you. Its is a very odd sensation and takes a little while to get used to, but you don't have ill effects (they say your platelets are regen'd in about 2 days). Plus, platelets are needed for certain types of chemo treatments and burn victims. You still get the cookies, too.
