Question about my 1upUSA trainer's supplied rear skewer...(5 posts)

Question about my 1upUSA trainer's supplied rear skewer...jtferraro

I have a 1upUSA trainer and the skewer it came with (the one they recommend using) didn't come w/those little cone shaped springs on either end, like normal skewers have. I'm assuming I'm supposed to install the manufacturer supplied skewer and use it as is rather than moving those two cone shaped springs from my stock bicycle skewer, to the trainer skewer, right? I just want to make sure I wouldn't be doing any damage to my bike, or the trainer, buy not using the springs.

Thanks, gang...

I'm pretty sure my skewer came with springs-I'm not sure what these even do, but I've always used springs with skewers. I would take the springs from an old skewer just to be safe or use the ones from your good skewer. It's a little bit of a pain, but I'm constantly switching rear skewer-esp. with the spotty spring weather we've been having. I frequently just ride with the 1up skewer cos I'm lazy. FYI if you're missing any parts Corky is suppoosed to be great to deal with.

I think the only purpose for those springs is to center the skewers so you can stick in your wheels easier into the drop outs. Mine didnt come with either but Ive been using them anyway for 6 months. Dont even bother with them.
