Advice on Buying First Road BikeRoss28

I am looking into buying my first road bike. I got fitted and I am in the range of 61-62 (63Trek). I am thinking about buying a used bike. Does anyone know of some good sites to look for used bikes. Also, how about some sites for new bikes...possible closeout deals!!!

Thanks for your help.

If you ask a lot of questions and you're willing to walk away when the price gets too high (don't get caught up in auction fever so you overbid), eBay is a good source for used bikes. I bought 2 there and they were both barely used.

Just make sure you understand the size, components, condition, etc. because unless the seller is close to you you will not see the bike before UPS or FedX delivers it.

don't drive up the price unnecessarily by bidding on it early.
wait until the auction is almost over to bid.

Shoes, pedals, shorts, helmet, jerseys, eyewear, computer, floor pump, saddlebag and flatkit, etc.

Some are optional, but I wouldn't ride far from home without most of the items above.

To me, all items are essential, except a jersey. I ride in tshirts occasionally and can't tell a difference, except for the way it looks and no back pockets. If you ride regularly, get a couple pair of shorts. You'll need wash after every ride.

Good luck!
