May 13, 2003 3:05 AM
i need to buy new road shoes. the ones i have (specialized) are giving me some pain after riding 25 miles in a day. sometimes before. pain area is in the sole area. i was thinking of buying a pair with carbon. unfortunatly they are too expensive for me. i want to spend under the $80 range.

any ideas?

thank you to all in advance.

You really need to go try on shoes at a shop to see what you like!
I think Nike fits me the best, everthing else feels wide.

Have you considered 'Superfeet' insoles? They might just be the answer to your problem. They provide stiffness and cushioning (there was a thread here last week discussing this item....go forward to the 'Next 100 or 150' threads, and you will find a thread titled "Superfeet - which one to get?".) You can get them at REI, LBS and mail-order..and for about $20. More info @ http://www.superfeet.com/who/index.html
