any update on Lance/Kristin?stan_b
May 12, 2003 7:57 AM
I searched the web and can't locate any update on their situation. I assume they are still separated. What a shame! I still can't believe it. One would think with all he went through, he could find some way to work it out especially with the young children involved.
I'm doing fine. Thanks for asking.Kristin

I'm pretty new to cycling, and I apologize if I'm out of line, but the constant obsessive commentary regarding Lance Armstrong's every twitch and flutter (his personal life, his facial expression after not winning a race, etc.) borders on the truly creepy...
. . . because he's a public figureRJF

Don't be naive. Part of what comes with being a public figure is losing a degree of privacy. I mean, Lance and his wife issued a PRESS RELEASE concerning their split. So, obviously they contemplate this as well and understand what comes with the territory. Lance isn't just a great bike rider; he is an international celebrity. And it's human nature to want to know about the personal life of celebrities -- a whole industry of magazines and television shows exists to this end.

And for the record, I believe that they are in the process of reconciling.
I see your point, but...SpoiledBikeDaddy

I'm not being naive - I wouldn't expect people NOT to know and comment in general about these aspects of any celebrity's life - it just seems to me that the commentary/speculation, etc. Mr. A receives is far out of proportion to his actual fame.

Of course, I'm using a bad source - it's not like's gonna have a long thread on, say, Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt, or Michael Jordan. Perhaps if I went to a basketball site I could get the pleasure of reading all about what Michael Jordan was doing at 9:32:46 this morning, and why, and what it all means.

I suppose this is also partly because A. is the closest thing the cycling world has to a "real" star - maybe if other pro cycling names were as widely reported and familiar, A's life would just be part of the noise.

In any case, it just seems weird to me - some the stuff I've read on this site about the non-cycling aspects of Lance Armstrong's life just makes me shake my head in wonderment...

because we have no lives of our own, we're willing to intrude into others. We're willing to ask questions and demand answers when we know damn well if we were in their position, we'd be saying "It's none of you're damn business!"
because too his face, we'd say, "You're my hero. I admire and respect you so much for what you've done."
Kristin feels she has to make a public statement because she knows damn well that once the public found out on their own, the whispering would start.
People say, "Well it became our business when a public statement was made."
Well, publishers put out thousands of hardcore porn mags and films. Does this obligate you to make them your business? People have a choice.

Everyone has been concerned with another's business at one time or another.

I really don't follow LA personal life or care all that much. but like anyone who's married and has kids, most us know what it means even if we haven't gone though it ourselves that a marriage breakup is ugly, messy and the kids are the most affected. I would like to heard that LA and his wife work it out because that would be GOOD news.....
I would cheer for Lance & Kristin's marriage success over his 5th straight TDF any day.......

There's a little blurb about it. The interview with him is pretty good. They seem to be working things out. It said she's going over to the house in Girona and stay through the end of the Tour. Lance said they'll take August off, and spend time as a family. They'll get back together permanently.

You brought it up; I was ignoring it.

You took my similar comment down when I said "who gives a rat's ass". This is the "f" word and you let it slide. Personally I don't give a rat's ass about profanity and I am quite fluent in it myself, but just pointing out the double standard.
But your Lazy gota mess with YOU!nmthe bull

Besides, my point was that, if I wanted to hear a bunch of nattering gossips talking about the private lives of athletes, I'd go watch Oprah, not come here. Maybe we need a gossip section? I can just see the discussions now: "Does Patani frequent prostitutes?", or maybe "Eddy Mercx accused of beating wife??". How about discussions on how long Lance dated "Rose DiPalma" before marrying his wife? C'Mon now-this isn't the freakin' National Enquirer!!!
